Who We Are
Every library needs support, assistance and input from the community in order to adapt to its changing needs. That’s what The Friends is for and that’s why we need people like you.
Public libraries are provided by city management, but the city funding only provides the basics. We are a 501(c)(3) volunteer-driven, community-based organization and our purpose is to ensure that our Georgetown Public Library has the financial support it needs to improve resources and materials and organize programs and events.
The benefits of being a friend
Your membership is important to our library.
Being a Friend sends a message to city government that our library is a valuable part of our community.
Friends receive monthly email newsletters, notices of upcoming events, and invitations to our Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Events.
Active volunteers meet many like-minded people who also love our library!
What we do
- Raise funds through memberships, book sales and events.
- Provide advocacy to support library programs and needs.

Purchase materials and equipment to help the library better serve our diverse community.
We donate an average of $70,000 a year to the library!

All memberships are active for 12 months except the Life level.

NEW! BUSINESS MEMBER:
For $100 a year, you can publicize your business and support the Friends of the Georgetown Public Library. Business memberships include:
- A window decal to publicize your support of the Friends
- Your business name and a link to your business’ website on our Friends of the Library website
- Mention of your business’ support in the Friends social media and in our monthly newsletter.
