Hill Country Authors Series Welcomes Lynda Rutledge to a Packed House

More than 150 enthusiastic readers attended the latest Hill Country Authors Series fundraising event featuring Lynda Rutledge and her latest novel Mockingbird Summer. Lynda, a self-described baby boomer, shared how she came to write Mockingbird Summer, using her childhood experiencesgrowing up in a small segregated Texas town as the foundation.  The book also pays homage to libraries as the story features the local Carnegie library, one of many across the nation funded by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.  Some audience members had questions about her previous acclaimed novel West With Giraffes, including whether a movie was possible.  Lynda said the book has been optioned but nothing definite yet. Lark and Owl sold all 45 copies of Mockingbird Summer!  All in all another very successful HCAS! Please make plans to join us in November when we will feature Austin author Jeff Abbott. Check back for details in late summer!
