about
friends of the Georgetown public library
Our Mission
We fund projects that are outside of the library’s budget and support the Georgetown Public Library’s mission of engaging, enlightening, and empowering the community.
Who We Are
The Friends of the Georgetown Public Library’s primary goal is to raise money to support the library’s needs. Our task is to ensure that the library continues to serve our growing and diverse city with programs, materials, and services that enhance the quality of life in our community.
What We Do
We are a 501(c)(3) organization with more than 1,300 members who:
- staff and maintain Second-Hand Prose
- manage fundraising events, such as the Hill Country Authors Series
- fund adult programs and music concerts
- allocate funds based on library needs

The Trailblazer Award honored Eric Lashley who pioneered [library] programs not tried before. It honors innovative and creative programs that benefit patrons of our library. 2024 recipient Colleen Ellis offered just that with her Reading Aids Program. It provides aids to help those struggling with eyesight and other impairments. Some are to check out and some are to keep.
