SHP Volunteer
Work in SHP on permanent shift or as a SUB helping out when someone is out of town Helping customers.
Commitment: Work 3 hour shifts. Various times and days. Permanent shifts will have SUBs to back you up when on vacation or sick.

SOS-Straighten Our Shelves
Crews come in each week to make sure SHP is in good order. Alphabetizing Fiction, checking non-fiction.
Commitment: 2 flexible hours a month.

Lead Money Counter
Work with Treasurer to ensure accuracy in recording SHP sales. Train and schedule money counters; fill in as needed.

Special Events Coordinator
Work with a team of volunteers to set up 2 gatherings per year, reserving the room, ordering refreshments, and preparing for the meetings.

Second-Hand Prose
Volunteers are always needed for three-hour shifts. Workers sell books, keep the shelves in alphabetized order, and shelve new titles. Permanent shifts or substitute positions are available.
- SHP is Second-Hand Prose; the used bookstore located on the 2nd floor of the Georgetown Public Library (GPL).
- Permanent shifts or substitute positions are available. Permanent does not imply every week. Temporary substitutes can take your place as needed.
- All Volunteers must attend a specific Second-Hand Prose (SHP) Orientation before beginning to volunteer.
Special Projects/Fundraising
Volunteers are an essential part of Special Projects such as the Hill Country Authors Series, Library Giving Days, Membership Drives, Appreciation Events and assorted Fundraising activities.
Communications/Publicity
Committee volunteers needed. Duties include writing copy, sending announcements, making copies, distributing fliers and using the paper cutter.
Art/Design
This team of volunteers creates promotional materials for FOL events. Computer experience required.
Website and Database
Savvy computer skills/experience are required for these volunteer team members. They maintain our online content including our WordPress website. Additionally, they manage the membership database and generate reports.
Membership
Help us recruit and welcome new members. Assist members with questions about their membership, send reminders, and help members renew their membership.
