The Georgetown Public Library hosted a magical evening for adults on Friday, October 2, 2026, featuring the Fantastic Kent Cummins.
Kent has been performing magic at the Georgetown Public Library—mostly for children—for about 40 years. He became interested in magic as a young boy and eventually decided to make it his profession. But magic is only one chapter in Kent’s remarkable life. Over the years, he has served as a U.S. Army officer, owned a restaurant, performed in a rock-and-roll band, served as CEO of a restaurant corporation, taught classes using his magic as a tool, and served as a motivational speaker.
Kent’s hour-and-a-half performance combined entertaining magic with stories from his many adventures and experiences as a magician. Despite the rainy evening, the room was filled with an enthusiastic audience.
The evening offered more than just a magic show. Before and after the performance, attendees had an opportunity to visit with Kent and his daughter, Carolyn, and to view some of the memorabilia he has collected throughout his fascinating career.
It was a fun and memorable evening for everyone who attended.
The Friends of the Georgetown Public Library provides funding for the library’s adult programs, helping make special events like this possible.
