2025 Annual Meeting Highlights

The Friends of the Georgetown Public Library recently held its Annual Meeting upstairs in the Friends Room.  This meeting is always an opportunity for members to learn about the Friends’ financial position as well as projects funded by the Friends during the current fiscal year.

As the largest library Friends group in Texas, we currently have 1,313 members from more than 900 households. Fund sources include book sales from Secondhand Prose as well as online book sales.  The Hill Country Authors Series, featuring regional authors, is another significant fundraiser held three times a year. We end the year with our Giving Season mail campaign with a goal this year of $51,000.

Total income for FY2024-25 was $150,000 and the Friends gave $105,000 in grants to the library.  These grants paid for, among many other things:

  • New computer area furniture,
  • Live Music on Sunday afternoons upstairs in the Friends and Hewlett rooms
  • A portable stage
  • The GPL Express Station at the Carver Center
  • Adult Programs, such as the Silent Book Club, Art Exhibits, World Cinema, among many others throughout the year.

Members also approved the new slate of officers and directors for the coming fiscal year.

The Board wishes to heartily thank Special Events Coordinator Mary Faithfull and her team for their excellent work in arranging for the delicious refreshments from Little Lemon.

We also wish to thank each and every FOL member who makes all these wonderful projects possible with your continued support!
