November Hill Country Authors Series
The November program featuring Austin author, Karan Mahajan, was a great success with over 80 people attending. They enjoyed a very interesting presentation on his book The Association of Small Bombs, one of the five finalists for the National Book Award for fiction. Even though he was not the eventual winner, we feel very privileged to have had this exciting up and coming author speak to us. His first book, Family Planning: A Novel, is also available at the library for checkout. Mark your calendars now for the next HCAS event which will be held February 23, 2017. The author will be Amy Gentry, author of the mystery Good as Gone. Tickets will go on sale starting January 17, 2017, $15 in advance and $18 at the door.

New Book Stand in the Lobby
Have you noticed the new book stand in the lobby? It’s filled with books that have been pulled from the shelves in Second-Hand Prose at the end of the month to make room for more exciting books in the shop. These books are available for the taking or a donation that patrons might wish to give. The donation box is at the circulation desk. The idea is to give people one last opportunity for some great books before they leave the library for good. It has been a great success and is one more way the Friends benefit the library! Take a look—you’ll be surprised at what’s available!

December Music Program
Chaski will perform a free concert in the Georgetown Public Library’s Live Music at the Library series on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the library lobby. Based in Austin, Texas, Chaski has performed together since 1985 and has toured the United States, Costa Rica, Venezuela, England, and Scotland. Five independently produced recordings, Chaski (1989), Pacha Mama (1991), El sariri (1995), Unay (2000), and Viracocha (2005) feature selections from Chaski’s repertoire on flute, sikus (panpipes), quena, flauto traverso, harp, cuatro, guitar, charango, bombo, maracas and other instruments. Free and open to the public, this performance is a gift of the Friends of the Georgetown Public Library. Come and go, or have a seat in the library lobby and enjoy the concert.
